Uganda Human Rights Commission

Mandate

To protect and promote human rights in the country.

The Commission was enshrined in the 1995 Uganda Constitution and  established on 6 November 1996.

Functions

  • To iInvestigate and hear human rights allegations,
  • Visit places of detention,
  • Carry out research, education and training,
  • Monitor government's compliance with international obligations and make recommendations to Parliament
