Outcomes of the Commonwealth Forum Meeting held in Nairobi, Kenya on 20 October 2008

The meeting, among other things, agreed the following;

• To set up a task force comprised of the Ombudsman of Trinidad and Tobago, the Vice Chairperson, representatives of the European and Asia Pacific Forum to liaise, coordinate the preparations for the 2009 Trinidad and Tobago meeting of the Forum including more detail on the theme, agenda and other related issues.
• That the theme of the 2009 meeting to bedeveloped around the CHOGM theme particularly addressing climate change and human rights.
• That the meeting will also consider a number of other issues related to strengthening the capacity of NHRIs and other national mechanisms in advancing human rights at the national level and further explore ways and means to enhance networking and collaboration among members of the Forum.
• That Regional groups would caucus and work out modalities.
• That the task force should in addition discuss the implementation of the Kampala Communiqué
